"Signs of God's Kingdom" Series 2016
In October, we will begin a new 6-week series called “Signs of God’s Kingdom.” Each week we will look at a different episode in the Gospel of John in which Jesus reveals a different sign of God’s kingdom. The inspiration for this sermon series came from the Bible study that Drs. Margaret Ann Crain and Jack Seymor led during the Northern Illinois Conference in last June. John tells us that Jesus is the Divine Word made flesh, and “we have seen his glory” (John 1:14). During his glorious ministry of embodying God, Jesus acted in certain ways that revealed the realm of God in the world. He turned water into wine. He healed the official’s son. He made lame man ambulatory, restored sight to a blind man, and raised his friend from the grave. He who is the Bread of Life shared loaves of bread and fish and satisfied the hungry crowd. These signs not only show God’s kingdom among us. They are also meant to evoke faith in Jesus. ...
